It began with a bang
And a flash of light
Then the world started spinning
Into day and night.
And the earth said
It’s a good thing that I do.
And the skies were cerulean
And the fishes filled the seas
Life coloured the planet
With creatures and trees.
And the earth said
It’s a good thing that we do.
And we all were fruitful
And we all mutiplied
But we didn’t take notice
Of the great divide.
And the earth said
What is it that you do?
Then the air turned grey
And the oceans cried
And the forests fell away
As the planet died.
And the earth said
You know not what you do.
But we didn’t stop to listen
And we didn’t stop to pray
And nothing was sacred
If it stood in our way.
And the earth said
Is that all you can do?
Still the rich got richer
And the cracks grew wide
Till the world split open
And we tumbled inside.
And the earth said
I’ll birth me something new.
Is it time to sleep?
Is it time to fight?
Is it time to dream?
Or time for flight?
And the earth said
Come
I’ll show you what is true.
And the skies were cerulean
And the fishes filled the seas
Life coloured the planet
With creatures and trees.
And the earth said
It’s a good thing that we do.
